About Małopolska

The Małopolska Region, with Kraków as its capital, offers breathtaking landscapes, unique nature, an impressive number of historical monuments, and a remarkable atmosphere. From the peaks of the High Tatras and the white cliffs of the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland with castle ruins, to charming towns with old tenement houses, sanctuaries, spa resorts with mineral waters, thermal baths, over 300 ski lifts, and 250 km of slopes – these are just some of the attractions Małopolska has to offer. The exceptional significance of the region’s cultural heritage is evidenced by the 14 Małopolska sites inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. These include: the Old Town of Kraków, the German Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, wooden churches and Orthodox churches, as well as the salt mines in Bochnia and Wieliczka.
